Safety Manager

Sonic Surveys provides geophysical subsurface well logging and associated wireline services for underground storage and solution mining industries within the continental US.  The home office is located in Baytown, Texas.   Geophysical well logging is a specialized service of logging inside wells to gather subsurface data, assess well integrity, and support resource recovery. These services are critical for both solution mining operations, where water is injected to dissolve and extract minerals from underground deposits or storage of hydrocarbons.  The Geophysical well logging consists of running an electric line with a variety of different instruments down through a well into a cavern to collect geophysical data on the cavern’s volume, shape, and integrity as well as the casing that feeds into the cavern.  The role of the Safety Manager is to ensure Sonic Surveys and its employees are adhering to safe work practices and meet the site requirements to be able to enter and perform work at the facility.   

Responsibilities:

   The Safety Manager manages the company safety and training programs, regulatory and client required compliance programs, drug, alcohol and background screening programs; assists with the development, implementation and enforcement of company safety policies; assists the Radiation Safety Officer with administration of the radioactive materials control and radiation exposure programs; performs on-site safety observations; represents the company at client safety meetings, workshops and conferences; organizes and presents material at company safety meetings; maintains/inputs company data into online systems (i.e.: ISNetworld, NCMS, DISA, Veriforce, PEC, Avetta, JJ Keller Encompass, etc.); and advises management on safety related topics/issues.  Performing onsite and shop facility inspections of crews to ensure they are following the Sonic Survey’s job sites and Plant’s safety processes and protocols. 

Requirements/Preferences:

• 2- or 4-year degree in safety related field; certification through BCSP, NASP, COSS or equivalent certifying entity is a plus; or equivalent experience in oil and gas industry.

• Valid Texas driver’s license with a clear driving record, Class B Commercial is a plus.

• Reliable transportation.

• Must pass 10-year County, State and Federal background check: no felony, domestic violence, drug, or weapons related convictions, no outstanding warrants.

• Must be willing to participate in random drug and alcohol screening programs.

• Must possess competent computer skills (Microsoft Office and Outlook) as well as good written and oral communication skills.

• Must be willing and able to travel on short notice.
